Queer Birds: An LGBTQ+ Wellness Retreat with Bird Tribe

07/07/2024 - 07/14/2024
AS SEEN ON

In-Depth Retreat Overview

We invite you to join a community of queer adventurers for a 7-day experience of wellness in the glorious Diamante Valley of Costa Rica. This experience will bring in the best elements of sacred plant ceremonies led by BIRD TRIBE; and embodiment practices: daily yoga, mediation, movement, breathwork and philosophy. Hosted in the Jungle Gayborhood, enjoy staying in our exquisite hand crafted bamboo cabins in the rain forest of Costa Rica, as you spend your days immersed in the spectacular natural wonderland of our property, with several kilometers of forest trails leading to pristine natural waterfalls, rock pools and rivers. Surrounded by the abundance of nature and supported by queer community, this retreat is open to all queer gender expressions and all levels of practice and experience with yoga, meditation, and sacred plant ceremonies. In addition to the scheduled elements of the retreat, we will have plenty of time to relax and savor the exquisite natural settings, and process our learnings, and grow from the supportive community we will create. The booking price includes selected accommodations, all meals, embodiment practices, nature excursions, and transportation to and from San Jose airport. Sacred Plant Ceremonies are optional, and offered at no charge to retreat participants. Invitation to Participate in Optional Research Study As a part of this retreat, we'll be partnering with our friends at Unlimited Sciences to conduct a clinical study that is deeply aligned with some of our core values as a queer wellness center. The goal of the study is to learn more about the positive and/or negative outcomes of sacred plant ceremonies in naturalistic settings (meaning outside a research laboratory), and any potential factors that could affect those outcomes, in a group of queer-identifying individuals. The study will involve filling out a set of online surveys over the period of 2 weeks before and up to 3 months after your experience at the Gayborhood. Your participation in this study could instrumentally shape our understanding of the therapeutic potential of sacred plant ceremonies amongst the queer community. Read more about the study here.

BIRD TRIBE is an established meditation circle that brings together traditional and contemporary North/South ritual practice and music. It's a fusion, or hybrid, of traditional and contemporary ceremonial styles and traditions we refer to as, "Eagle Condor" - a harmonious and progressive blend of North & South.
The ceremonies are lead by Tony Moss with a very experienced crew of assistants and musicians. Tony is a trusted facilitator with over 28 years experience and a reputation for quality and integrity. The Bird Tribe ceremonies are renowned for the safety of the container held, their integrity, and for the beautiful live music - all offered in an open, safe, and nourishing space to do psycho/spiritual exploration with sacred plants.
